BUTLER TWP — Police are reminding residents to lock their homes following a pair of recent daylight burglaries.

Money and a gun were stolen from the homes on New Castle Road.

Butler Township Police Chief John Hays on Wednesday shared few details of the break-ins, saying that the homes targeted were “in a new residential area of New Castle Road.”

He said the burglaries happened “within the past week,” but he declined to be more specific.

Hays said the burglar or burglars apparently got into the houses through unlocked doors or windows. Neighbors did not report seeing or hearing anything suspicious.

An unspecified amount of money was stolen from one house and an “older pistol” was taken from the other house.

Residents are asked to call police if they see anything suspicious in their neighborhoods.
