Elliot wins again
DARLINGTON, S.C. —Someone might think there is another fire in Dawsonville, Ga., this week but not to worry.
It’s just Chase Elliott winning another NASCAR Nationwide Series race.
For the second consecutive week, Elliott, the 18-year-old son of NASCAR veteran Bill Elliott, out-dueled several Sprint Cup series veterans on his way to a win, becoming the youngest driver to win two series races.
The win by no means came easy. During the race’s final caution, Elliott came off pit road in sixth after a slow pit stop but quickly made up ground.
He got side-by-side with leader Elliott Sadler on the final lap and completed an impressive pass for a victory in Friday night’s VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway.
“Holy cow, I don’t know (how I did that). That was crazy,” Elliott said after the race in Victory Lane. “That had to be fun to watch. It was fun to be a part of.”
Soon after the victory, the Dawsonville Pool Hall — which traditionally blasted a siren when Chase’s father won races —turned on the siren for the second consecutive weekend for Chase.
