The Old Stone Housewill host the 63rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry reenactment group for Civil War Weekend 2014 on Saturday and Sunday. The free public program will include drills, educational programs, a living history encampment and battle re-enactments. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, is showing seldom-seen artifacts representing a wide range of history in “Out of the Attic” through Sunday. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. daily. “Out of the Attic” admission is $5 and does not include museum access. Displays are diverse, from 19th century coverlets by Adam Hoerr and Schontz family chairs and memorabilia, to Estey organs manufactured just down the street in the mid-20th century. There also will be business advertising premiums and signs from the past two centuries.
Drake Well Museum, 202 Museum Lane, Titusville, will host Family Day on Saturday, featuring a special admission rate of $20 for up to two adults and three children. Kathy Newson of the Titusville Historical Society will conduct a workshop on “How to Start Your Genealogy,” teaching visitors how to begin researching their family histories. Visitors also can enjoy the museum's 10,000-square-foot petroleum exhibit for answers to the Family Day Scavenger Hunt.
