Firefighters prevent blaze from spreading to house

BRADYS BEND TWP — Firefighters Monday afternoon prevented a porch blaze from spreading to the interior of a Cove Run Road home.

Chief Philip Beabout of the East Brady Volunteer Fire Department said the flames were contained to the porch and adjacent wood pile at 122 Cove Run Road, the Michael Evankovich residence.

“Really no internal (damage),” Beabout said. “External, mainly.”

He said the cause of the fire is being investigated.

“We’re still working on it,” Beabout said.

No damage estimate was available. Beabout said the owners were insured.

Roughly 30 firefighters responded to the 12:01 p.m. Armstrong County 911 call.

The Chicora, Petrolia, Rimersburg and Sugarcreek Township volunteer fire departments assisted East Brady.

By 1:40 p.m., crews were soaking the wood pile to ensure nothing was smoldering.
