Kenneth Kamerer

Kenneth E. Kamerer, 64, of Front St., Chicora, died late Wednesday afternoon at his home.

Mr. Kamerer was born in Kaylor on April 23, 1949. He was the son of Eugene and Almeda Wiles Kamerer.

He was Protestant.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching his granddaughters play soccer. He was an avid Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. Ken was a 1967 graduate of East Brady High School and a 1969 graduate of the Radiology School at Butler Memorial Hospital. Ken worked at St. Francis Hospital in New Castle as a CT Tech until it closed, and later at Jameson Hospital in New Castle as a radiology tech, as well as UPMC Lee Regional Hospital in Johnstown.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Patricia A. Leech of Chicora; his three children, Kenneth E. Kamerer II and his wife, Darcy, of Columbus, Ohio, Erin R. Claypool of Freeport and Michael A. Kamerer of Clanton, Ala.; his five grandchildren, John, Jake, Emma, Taylor and Piper; his brother-in-law, Leonard Bly of Chicora; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, McCabe Claypool; his two sisters, Patricia Ann Evans and Rita Bly; and his niece, Tracy Lynn Bly.

Kamerer — The friends of Kenneth E. Kamerer, who died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Pete Sapp, pastor of the Trinity Reformed Church, Bradys Bend, officiating.Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
