Community LifeCommunity Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.Food bank collection day is Sunday. Take pasta and sauce and/or paper products. Covenant PresbyThe seekers class of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will explore the problem of violence in the Old Testament at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the assembly room. The group will use a DVD developed by scholar and theologian Michael Hardin.The midweek Lenten worship service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Faith U.P.During Lent, the congregation of Faith United Presbyterian Church, 120 Orchard Drive, will use nails as a symbol of sins and turn them over to the cross. Each Sunday one nail will be driven into the cross to symbolize Christ taking sins upon himself.The board of elders meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

First BaptistA luncheon will follow the Sunday morning service at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St. There also will be a 1:15 p.m. worship service. There will be no evening service.

First English LutheranFirst English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will be the site of a benefit spaghetti dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday for the Miranda Lyon family. The Don Snow family will sponsor the meal. To help with the event, call the church office at 724-283-2378.

Glade Run U.P.Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will host a GYMsox (Get your Mind Set on Christ) flag football program for boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade. New Life Christian MinistriesNew Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will have its C.L.A.S.S. 101 — Journey to Discipleship — at noon Sunday at the mission outpost. This is a time to learn about New Life's mission, vision and values and have the opportunity to become covenanting disciples (members) of New Life. Lunch will be provided. St Luke's Lutheran Church The senior high youths of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.Dana Perkins of The Net Homeless Warming Center in Butler will give the Temple Talk. Lenten bank proceeds will fund this community outreach project.Communion will be shared and all Scouts should wear uniforms to celebrate Scout Sunday.
