Trefoil Service Unit visited countries from Egypt to France on Feb. 23 as part of World Thinking Day.
The event, held at Glade Run Presbyterian Church, included about 230 of the youngest scouts, Daisies, to the oldest, Ambassadors.
Girls from the Mars area selected a country and used what they learned to create a world marketplace with colorful posters, artifacts, foods and swaps from their country. Many also dressed to reflect the nation they selected.
The event also included a presentation by the Homeless Children Education Fund and games and crafts.
The scouts contributed to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, a program which promotes international travel to foster cultural understanding.
They also collected school supplies to fill backpacks that were donated to Mars Home for Youth and the Homeless Children Education Fund in support of their “Gear for Grades” program.
During the opening ceremony, Gregg Hartung, mayor of Mars, presented the Trefoil Girl Scouts a Mars Area Community Service Award for their service project Caroling for Mars where the scouts annually collect money and food to help needy Mars area children have a Christmas gift and dinner.
Two Mars High School AFS students, Guillen Steulet from Switzerland and Sofie Engel from Germany, attended and spoke with the scouts.
