Virginia Glasser
Virginia Glasser, 87, of New Castle passed away Saturday at Kindred Care Hospital.
She was born in New Castle on Jan. 10, 1927, to the late Clyde and Helen Dick Book.
Virginia married John “Fred” Glasser on April 12, 1952. He preceded her in passing on Sept. 24, 2003.
Mrs. Glasser was an OR nurse at Jameson Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Nursing Corps.
She enjoyed quilting and collecting frogs. Her real passion was to her church. Virginia was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir, the Golden Age Quilters, the outdoor church committee and a deaconess.
Mrs. Glasser is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Dennis Matsook of New Castle; her three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Janice Glasser of Hillsboro, N.C., Dennis and Debra Glasser of Wampum, Pa., and Mark and Mary Glasser of New Castle; her brother, Jacque Book of Butler; her sister, Lois Ellis of Butler; her 11 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in passing by her brother, Raymond Book.
GLASSER — The visitation for Virginia Glasser, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harmony Baptist Church. The Rev. James Hockenberry will officiate.
