Butler grad Fennell on Martinez list
CALIFORNIA — Butler graduate and California (Pa.) University sophomore outfielder-pitcher Mick Fennell has been named to the initial watch list for the 2014 Tino Martinez Award, recognizing the most outstanding Division II baseball player.
Fennell hit .322 for the Vulcans last year, collecting 38 hits, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored. He was among the team leaders with a .432 slugging percentage and 10 stolen bases.
On the mound, he was 5-5 with a 2.64 earned run average and five complete games. He had a team-best 1.66 ERA in 38 innings pitched in PSAC West play.
Vulcans junior shortstop Matt Peters, who hit .346 with 33 runs scored last season, is also on the Martinez Watch list.
