SVHS musical goes to 'Oz'

Seneca Valley High School will present the musical “The Wizard of Oz” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1, 2 p.m. March 2, 7:30 p.m. March 7 and 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. March 8 in the Seneca Valley High School auditorium.

Little Dorothy Gale of Kansas, like so many girls her age, dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.

“The Wizard of Oz,” written by L. Frank Baum, has music and lyrics from the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg and background music by Herbert Stothart.

The book adaptation is by John Kane from the motion picture screenplay.
