Florence L. Spencer Bond

Florence L. Spencer Bond, 88, formerly of Evans City, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday at the Reformed Presbyterian Home, Pittsburgh, after a brave fight against a serious illness.

Born in Center Township on Nov. 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alvie E. and Mary E. Badger Spencer.

Growing up in Connoquenessing, she attended Evans City High School where she met and married Floyd E. Bond in 1946 after his return from serving in World War II.

He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1977.

She was a Protestant.

Flo had worked in several places over the years, including the Seneca Valley School District as a custodian. Her husband also worked in the maintenance department. She later worked in the bakery department of Giant Eagle on Route 8 until the age of 77.

She was an avid collector of angels and owls. She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sheila (Lanny) Grenet of Florida, Karen (David) Miller of Cranberry Township and Sharon (Richard) Manuel of Evans City; her sister, Geneva Cable of Zelienople; her eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her nephew, Gary Cable of Florida, and her niece, Mindy Cable of Cranberry Township. She also is survived by her two special friends, Pam Best of Cranberry Township and Pam North of Zelienople.

BOND — The family of Florence L. Spencer Bond, who died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, will have a private visitation. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.Burial will be in the Evans City Cemetery.Additional information may be obtained at www.kinsey-volzfuneralhome.com.
