Union boys top Moniteau, 60-49

Cole Morris scored 17 points as the Union boys basketball team downed Moniteau 60-49 Saturday afternoon.

Chet Carmichael added 12 points and Dylan Shirey pitched in 11 for the Golden Knights (9-8).

James Bair paced Moniteau with 22 points. Mark Kimmell added 17 for the Warriors (5-12).

The two teams will meet again at Union tonight.

Sharon 53, Grove City 45 — Derek Turner scored 20 points, but the Eagles couldn’t overcome a slow start and a poor shooting night at the line in a home region setback.

Grove City (11-6, 6-6) scored just 14 points in the first half and trailed by 11 at the break. The Eagles also were 4-of-15 from the free throw line.

Paul Drake had a triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the First Baptist boys basketball team downed Champion 74-45.

Trevor Barnhart scored 31 points and also had seven steals for First Baptist.

First Baptist 41, Champion 8 (girls basketball) —Lydia Roth scored 10 points and also had six rebounds and six steals in this win.
