4:58 p.m. Thursday — John A. Tomko, 35, of Butler was arrested on North Main Street on a bench warrant.Officers initially went to the Butler Area Public Library on North McKean Street after a caller reported that Tomko was passed out there. However, he was gone by the time police arrived.But officers spotted him walking on North Main Street near West North Street. They caught him when he tried to enter an apartment building.Later, Tomko was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant that was issued Jan. 3 after he failed to appear at a hearing for a probation violation stemming from a 2010 theft case, court records showed.1:40 p.m. Thursday — Jonathan R. Krelko, 30, no known address, allegedly shoplifted $149 in clothing items from the Kmart store in Pullman Square.A store security employee saw Krelko go into a fitting room with a shopping cart full of clothing. But when he left, those clothes were gone from the cart. The suspect had only plastic shopping bags, from another store, filled with unknown items.Krelko apparently got out of the store and apparently was seen driving away southbound on Hansen Avenue in a pickup truck. Officers searched the area and Krelko's last two known addresses, but could not find him.Krelko is wanted on an arrest warrant on charges of retail theft and driving with a suspended license.Jan. 13 — Kelly J. Barnhart, 42, of Butler was arraigned on a bad check charge for bouncing seven checks totaling $689 at Hovis Auto Supply on West Jefferson Street. The checks, passed between May 28 and July 26, were written on a bank account that did not have sufficient funds, according to a police report.Barnhart was released on her own recognizance, following arraignment.

10:30 a.m. Thursday — Jay Fassinger, 80, of Evans City lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a concrete barrier on Route 422 east at the Benbrook bridge. Police blamed icy roads for the wreck as well several other minor accidents in the same area Thursday.8:03 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Channing Gaston, 22, of Butler struck a concrete barrier on snow-covered Route 422 west between the Mercer Road and Route 8 north overpasses.6:47 a.m. Thursday — Jacob Waltenbaugh, 27, of Kittanning lost control of his pickup on snow-slick Route 422 west just before the Duffy Road overpass and hit the medial wall head-on. He was not hurt but his pickup had to be towed.8:15 p.m. Wednesday — Christina M. Beers, 48, of Butler was arrested on assault and other charges after a domestic dispute in a moving vehicle on Pittsburgh Pike Road.Beers was a passenger when she began hitting and pulling the hair of an 18-year-old woman driving the vehicle. Two other youths were also riding in the vehicle.The alleged victim notified police after returning home.Beers is charged with simple assault and three counts of reckless endangerment. Police also cited her for harassment and public drunkenness.

Wednesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher S. Walker, 22, of Slippery Rock on felony and other charges after he allegedly stole two checks from a 54-year-old man's home on Marigold Lane on Brady Township this month.Walker is accused of forging the checks on Jan. 9 and cashing them at a bank for a combined $100. He also is charged with forgery, theft and receiving stolen property.
