5:38 a.m. today — A car struck a tractor-trailer that was going the wrong way on South Monroe Street just before the railroad bridge. An accident report was not immediately available but police said no one was hurt.10:43 p.m. Tuesday — Jesse J. Eaton, 19, of Butler spent the night in the city holding cell after he was found allegedly intoxicated at a home in the 100 block of Lyon Avenue. A neighbor's complaint earlier sent police to the address.He is charged with public drunkenness and underage drinking.12:38 a.m. Tuesday — A Lawrence County woman faces drug charges following a traffic stop on Wood Street near North Sixth Avenue. Police, at the time on patrol after getting complaints of recent drug activity in the area, stopped the vehicle for an invalid registration.The suspect, Brittney N. Philpot, 27, of New Castle, was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation.Officers later searched Philpot's back pack that turned up a pill bottle containing anti-anxiety pills and painkillers for which she did not have prescriptions, according to a police report. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Police said the driver, Caleb D. Rugg, 23, of Penn Township, was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving with expired registration and driving without insurance.8:16 p.m. Monday — An unknown thief stole a baby crib and mattress from outside an apartment building in the 400 block of North Main Street. The owner, a 26-year-old woman, told police that she had momentarily left the belongings unattended while she moved other items in her apartment.She said when she came out to get the oak crib and mattress, valued at $250, the property was gone.4:31 p.m. Jan. 15 — Isaac G. Anderson Jr., 54, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant after a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Chestnut Street. Anderson was placed in Butler County Prison for the warrant that was issued Oct. 2 after he failed to appeared for a court hearing stemming from a simple assault case.
7:10 p.m. Tuesday — A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle at the Fortune Star parking lot in the Butler Commons shopping plaza.5:39 p.m. Tuesday — A teenager was hurt when a vehicle driven by Tara Palm, 33, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle stopped for traffic on New Castle Road. Palm's 14-year-old passenger, who police did not identify, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Police cited Palm for driving with a suspended license and careless driving. Amy Wilkinson, 59, of Apollo, Armstrong County, was the other driver.
Wednesday — Police charged Michael Lee Burk Jr., 23, of Grove City with false reports to law enforcement authorities stemming from a reported burglary at his home Dec. 31.
8:14 a.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Mercer Township. The crash happened when a pickup truck driven by Andrew L. McCoy, 47, of Harrisville and a sport utility vehicle driven by Kareyma N. Cummins, 40, of Pittsburgh collided at Route 8 and Ethan Hill Road.Cummins, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Police said McCoy was cited for a stop sign violation.7:30 a.m. Wednesday — An unidentified vehicle struck mailboxes at Route 68 and Buss Lane in Connoquenessing Township and did not stop after the crash.
Wednesday — Kurtis E. Keefer, 33, of Butler was charged with stealing $631 on Jan. 9 from the Lids store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township, where he was working at the time. Keefer is charged with theft.9 p.m. Jan. 7 — Two people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by Amanda L. McNeish, 36, of Polk, Venango County, skidded off ice-covered Barkeyville Road in Pine Township and slammed into a ditch. The pickup rolled over one time and landed on its wheels.McNeish and her passenger, Brian S. Morrison, 39, of Clintonville, Venango County, suffered moderate and minor injuries, respectively. Both were treated at Grove City Medical Center.Police did not know if McNeish was wearing a seat belt. Morrison was not belted.
