LYNDORA — A public meeting to discuss state Senate Bill 76, which involves property tax changes, will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave.

The bill, which is co-sponsored by state Sen. Don White, R-41st, would eliminate school property taxes but make sure school districts are still funded by raising the personal income tax and getting rid of sales tax loopholes. The additional money brought in by those changes would go to schools.

Loraine DiDomenico, president of the Butler County Association of Realtors, which is sponsoring the meeting, said the bill is a tax shift, with the same amount of money coming in, but from different sources.

She said the tax burden would be spread out among more people.

Supporters say the change would help seniors living on fixed incomes as well as other homeowners from paying too much in property taxes.

“This is something that everyone should know about,” DiDomenico said.

More information about the bill can be found at www.RealReform76.com.
