PIHL all-stars playing Feb. 9
NEVILLE TWP — Numerous Butler County players will be participating in the PIHL All-Star Games Feb. 9 at the RMU Island Sports Center.
The Class A game — featuring players from Mars and Freeport — takes place at 1 p.m. The Class AAA game — featuring players from Butler and Seneca Valley — is at 5 p.m.
Forwards Connor Scott, Joseph DiMartino and Troy Double will be in the game for Butler, along with defenseman Jonathan Fair and goaltender Logan Rothbauer. Scott has six goals and 19 points this season while DiMartino has 11 goals, Double eight goals and 15 points. Rothbauer has a 3.48 goals-against averages.
Seneca Valley will be represented by forwards Chris Marziotto and Brendan MacFarlane, and goaltender Tanner Pfeffer. Marziotto is fifth in PIHL Class AAA with 10 goals and 25 points. MacFarlane has five goals and 19 points, Pfeffer a 2.50 GAA.
Butler’s Mike Guentner and Seneca Valley’s Anthony Raco will be coaching in the game as well.
In Class A, Mars will have forwards Nick Makozy, Craig Mazzotta and Beau Heakins playing, along with defensemen Mike McCann and Ian Newman. Makozy is third in PIHL Class A with 18 goals and 32 points while Mazotta has nine goals and 25 points, Heakins eight goals and 15 points. Newman has 11 assists, McCann five.
Freeport forwards Cole Hepler and Hunter Kepple will see action, as will defensemen Brendon Zack and Jared Kapustik. Hepler has 15 goals and 24 points, Kepple two goals and 10 points. Zack has three goals and 12 points, Kapustik six assists.
Yellowjacket coach Dave Hepler will coach in the contest.
The Class AA game will be played at 3 p.m., the Open division game at 11 a.m.
