Shelby Johnston scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds Wednesday night, but the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team dropped a 64-51 decision at CCAC.

Kyleigh Custer added 10 points, Jen Barry six rebounds and Ashley Brehm five assists for the Pioneers (19, 0-1) in their conference opener.

The BC3 men slipped to 1-10 overall, 0-1 in league play with a 112-55 loss to CCAC. Cody West scored 15 points for the Pioneers while Jeff Copeland added 10 points and eight rebounds. Josh Friel had three assists.

BC3 hosts Potomac State in a women’s-men’s twinbill beginning at noon Saturday.
