11:39 a.m. Friday — Javen N. Evans, 19, of Butler was arrested after he ran from police following a traffic stop on Broad Street. Evans darted between houses and across West Brady Street before jumping a chain-link fence into a back yard.He attempted to get into a home but the door was locked, according to court documents. He took off running again and tried to hide by lying in the snow next to a vehicle.Police, including their K-9 officer, eventually found the suspect who was handcuffed after a brief struggle, documents said.A search of Evans turned up a stamp bag of suspected heroin and two baggies of suspected marijuana.Evans was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance and a small amount of marijuana, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail following arraignment.

Tuesday — Police charged Michael J. Wagoner, 47, of Butler with inappropriately touching a 21-year-old woman in the bar at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. The woman did not know the suspect but video surveillance enabled investigators to identify Wagoner.He is charged with indecent assault and summary.8:28 p.m. Monday — Kimberly J. Shaffer, 30, of Portersville was caught allegedly shoplifting $263 in merchandise from the Butler Commons' Walmart. Shaffer is charged with retail theft.

Dec. 31 — A burglar broke into a garage at a home in the 400 block of McConnell Street and stole a 5-gallon gasoline can containing gas. The burglary happened between Dec. 27 and 31. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

Dec. 26 — Police charged Anthony M. Ferrigno, 19, of Evans City with assaulting his 17-year-old girlfriend during a domestic dispute about 9:40 p.m. Dec. 20 while the couple rode in a car.Ferrigno is accused of hitting the girl in the face and punching her in the right arm as she drove in the area of Mars Evans City and Myoma roads. After she stopped the vehicle, Ferrigno took her cell phone and crushed it, court documents said,He is charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment.

1:19 a.m. Jan. 1 — Richad Wallace, 39, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his daughter during a domestic dispute at the family's home on Scott Ridge Road. The dispute erupted after Wallace, his wife and their daughter returned home from a New Year's Eve party.The alleged victim suffered minor injuries.Police said when they tried to place Wallace in handcuffs, he struggled with officers.He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was later released on non-monetary bail.

Dec. 26 — Gilbert A. Eckert, 42, of Butler was charged with drunken driving after officers found him Dec. 15 passed out in a car, with its engine still running, at a convenience store parking lot on West New Castle Street.Police said Eckert was snoring about 9:40 p.m. when they were able to open the driver's side door and turn off the ignition. The vehicle reeked of alcohol, according to court documents, and the front passenger floor was littered with empty beer cans.Officers also noticed a half-full can of beer in the center console.The suspect failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Ellwood City Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.224 percent, or nearly triple the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.Eckert is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and driving with an open container of alcohol.

2:20 a.m. Sunday — Devin A. Brian, 26, of Clay Township was arrested for driving under the influence at Kildoo and Claytonia roads in Clay Township. In addition to DUI, police cited Brain for driving with a suspended license, careless driving, running a stop sign, a lane violation and a seat belt violation.Friday — Police charged Anthony J. Colosimo, 21, of Slippery Rock with pointing a rifle at his stepfather, James Haggerty, at Haggerty's home on Branchton Road in Cherry Township last month.Colosimo was armed with a .22-caliber rifle Dec. 15 when he entered Haggerty's home and confronted the alleged victim who was seated on the living couch watching television, court documents said.Colosimo allegedly pointed the gun at Haggerty and said, “Tell me telepathy is real or I will kill you,” according to a police affidavit.The suspect's mother, Christie Haggerty, rushed toward her son and pinned him to the wall while James Haggerty left the house, police said.Colosimo's mother told police that his rifle was not loaded but a fully loaded clip was in his coat pocket.Colosimo is charged with terroristic threats and harassment.

10 p.m. Monday — Matthew C. Mellott, 19, of Mercer lost control of his sport utility vehicle on ice and crashed into a fence and tree in a farm field along Forrester Road just west of North Mill Road in Fairview Township, Mercer County.Police cited Mellott for a lane violation.
