SRU men net win on road

The Slippery Rock men’s basketball team put the clamps on Shippensburg’s Joe Lococo Saturday.

Lococo, who was averaging 20.3 points per game, was limited to 10 points by the Rock, which rolled to a 78-65 win in Shippensburg.

The Raiders and the Rock were tied at 10 with 14:06 left in the first half when SRU (11-4) used an 11-4 run to pull away. Tabari Perry led the Rock with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Josh Martin (18 points), Maurice Lewis-Briggs (16) and Antonio Butler (15) also scored in double figures for SRU.

Rock women fall in overtime

Megan Hardiman put the Slippery Rock women’s basketball team in position to win. The Rock just couldn’t find any scoring punch in a 74-73 overtime road loss to Shippensburg.

Hardiman made three free throws with five seconds remaining to force the extra period. Shippensburg (9-3) opened overtime with a 3-pointer by Lauren Gold and never trailed.

Jazmyne Frost led SRU (2-11) with a double-double, scoring 10 points and finishing with 10 rebounds. Erica Aiello (18 points), D’Asia Chambers (17) and Danielle Garroutte (13) also finished in double figures for The Rock.
