12:58 p.m. Monday — Mike A. Cumblidge, 40, had to be taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heroin overdose at his Amy Avenue home.A 911 call from Cumblidge's girlfriend sent paramedics and police to the home. A medical crew was already treating Cumblidge on the upstairs floor when an officer got there. Paramedics had to administer Narcan, a drug used to counteract heroin overdoses, which helped to revive him.A police report noted that officers found a spoon with suspected heroin residue and several empty stamp bags of heroin at the home.Police said Cumblidge faces a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.
6:58 a.m. Tuesday — Snow covered roads caused a car driven by Justin Birckbichler, 26, of Butler to slide into a utility pole along Crisswell Road just east of Old Plank Road. Birckbichler was not injured but his car had to be towed from the scene.5:17 p.m. Monday — One person was hurt in a two-car accident that occurred at Route 8 and Hansen Avenue. Police said the crash happened when Paula L. Buzard, 59, of Butler failed to yield while making a left turn and struck a vehicle driven by Jennifer Smith, 31, of Butler.Buzard's passenger, who police did not identify, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.Police cited Buzard for making an improper left turn and careless driving.
1:01 a.m. Wednesday — Adrianna M. Ewing, 35, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Litman Road in Butler Township. Police said when they pulled over Ewing they found two children, ages 6 and 7, in her vehicle.In addition to DUI, according to a police report, she faces a charge of child endangerment.9:35 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Richard L. Jerpe, 48, of Slippery Rock struck a deer and overturned on Route 173 just south of Etna Road in Slippery Rock Township.1:39 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Nicole M. Papley, 18, of Slippery Rock struck an embankment after sliding off snow-covered Halston Road, just west of Beaver Dam Road, in Clay Township.Moments after the wreck, a pickup truck driven by Jason A. Howard, 36, of Parker struck the driver's side of an ambulance that was called to assist police at the crash site. The truck ended in a ditch.Police subsequently arrested Howard for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and numerous other traffic violations.Papley, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt; however, her car had to be towed from the scene. Also uninjured was Howard and Austin Burns, 19, of Butler, who was driving the ambulance; both had their seat belts on.11:10 a.m. Tuesday — A cargo van driven by Charles L. Freedline, 39, of Kittanning crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its side on Route 68 just south of Graham Lane in Donegal Township. Police said Freedline was cited for driving too fast for conditions.1:35 a.m. Saturday — Walter S. Kradel, 32, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Cunningham Street and Fifth Avenue in Butler.12:02 p.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Sarah E. Rendos, 31, of Mercer struck a deer on Interstate 80 in Beaver Township, Clarion County.Dec. 24 — An unknown identity thief racked up more than $150 in purchases using a 76-year-old Oakland Township woman's bank debit card.1:21 a.m. Dec. 15 — Austin C. Miller, 19, of Butler was arrested for suspected drunken driving at Route 8 and Larchwood Drive in Penn Township. Police charged Miller with DUI by a minor, underage drinking, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.2:49 a.m. Dec. 14 — Samantha Jo Derose-Wolfe, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspected DUI on Route 422 just west of Route 8 in Butler Township. In addition to DUI, Derose-Wolfe was cited for failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
Sunday — An unknown thief stole money that was inside a safe at a home on Traister Road in Madison Township. The money, owned by a 33-year-old woman, was taken between March 1 and Sunday.11:27 a.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Amber S. Young, 34, of Parker and William A. Ditz, 79, of Fryburg collided at Route 68 and Perkins Road in Monroe Township. Police said Young was cited for careless driving.
11:36 p.m. Tuesday — Brandon Lee Wilson, 34, of New Bethlehem, Clarion County, was arrested for suspected drunken driving and other charges after he crashed his car and took off running in Wayne Township. Troopers, however, nabbed him before he could get far from the crash scene at Route 28/66 and Snyderville Road.Wilson was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and several traffic violations. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $20,000 bail, following arraignment.Tuesday — Someone broke into the Burnt Ridge Bow & Gun Club on Ridge Road in East Franklin Township. Numerous unspecified items were stolen in the burglary that happened between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
10:10 a.m. Tuesday — Nancy M. Powell, 42, of Fredonia was hurt when the pickup truck she was driving crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its roof in Perry Township. A police report said she lost control of the pickup on snow-covered Route 19.Powell, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC-Greenville with unknown injuries. Police said she faces a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.10 p.m. Saturday — Police cited a Mercer County woman for several traffic violations after she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and ended in a creek in Perry Township.Cami A. Frye, 25, of Sandy Lake was speeding around a curve on Ohle Road just east of Mill Road when her vehicle struck a guardrail before traveling down a steep embankment and nose diving into a creek. A police report noted that the SUV ended “almost straight up and down” in the water.Frye, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, called for a ride and left the crash scene, failing to return to get the vehicle. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions, a lane violation, hit-and-run and failing to immediately notify police after an accident.9 p.m. Dec. 16 — Codey A. Holtman, 21, of Grove City was arrested after allegedly assaulting Tiffany N. Baun of Grove City at a home on East Main Street Extension in Pine Township.Holtman was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment and placed in the Mercer County Jail on $5,000 bail. Police said the suspect also is accused of a probation violation.Dec. 2 — An unknown identity thief purchased several items using the credit card of a 36-year-old woman from Worth Township, Mercer County. Police said they do not know how the suspect got the woman's card.
