Treacherous walks
I want to draw attention to a situation that affects many pedestrians during the winter along Freedom Road — Route 228 — in Cranberry Township.
The township prides itself in having a pedestrian-friendly vision for the future. Its sidewalk project is a good example.
The only problem is that while many of the business owners along Freedom Road are clearing the snow from their walks, several are not complying with the ordinance requiring them to do so.
This is a huge problem for the many residents who rely on these sidewalks. What makes matters worse is when the pedestrians are forced to walk on the snowy walks, they pack the snow down and it turns to ice, making it even more dangerous.
I have contacted the township several times over the past several years to voice my concerns, and I haven’t seen a response yet.
