Here is a list of Christmas Eve services at Butler County churches:

BUTLER ASSEMBLY OF GOD

Butler Assembly of God, Route 422 near Mount Chestnut, will have a 7 p.m. candlelight service.

Butler Church of the Nazarene

Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road, will have a 6 p.m. service with carols and Communion.

CENTER PRESBY

Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St. Slippery Rock, will have a candlelight service beginning with a 6:15 p.m. prelude and 6:30 p.m. worship service with Scriptures, carols and Communion.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Members of Christ Community United Methodist Church 205 North Duffy Road, will host a family service from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Rotary Park located at the intersection of Cunningham Street and Mount Chestnut Street. There will be hot chocolate, cookies, singing, story time and gift bags. A special Christmas visitor will be giving gifts at the end of the service.

The traditional service will be at 7:30 p.m., and a Communion service will be 11:30 p.m. at the church.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church will have a service from 7 to 8 p.m. at McQuistion Elementary School. Nursery and preschool child care will be available. Elementary students will join their parents in the service.

COVENANT PRESBY

The traditional service of lessons and carols (based on the Cambridge University service) at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will begin at 7 p.m. with festival music. Worship begins at 7:30 p.m. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. The service concludes with candle lighting at 9 p.m.

EAST BUTLER

East Butler Presbyterian Church, 9th and Randolph Streets, East Butler, will have a 6 p.m. candlelight Communion service.

FAITH LUTHERAN

Faith Lutheran Church, 241 Freeport Road, will have a lessons and carols service at 7 p.m.

FAITH U.P.

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext., will have a 7 p.m. worship service.

First Baptist

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have a service at 6 p.m.

FIRST ENGLISH

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a 4:30 p.m. children’s service and a 10:30 p.m. candlelight service with Holy Communion.

FIRST PRESBY

First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 and Heckert Road, will have three candlelight services: 5 p.m. featuring music by children and youths; 7 p.m. featuring Praise Band music; and 11 p.m. with music by the chancel choir.

All three services include the Lighting of the Candles and the singing of “Silent Night.” Child care is available at the 5 and 7 p.m. services.

The Christmas Eve offering will be divided among the Mars Home for Youth, the Youth Outreach Program of the Church and the Bakerstown Presbyterian Children’s Center.

GRACEWAY

Graceway will have a service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road. The service will feature carols, candles and Communion.

HILL U.P.

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will have a family-friendly “Happy Birthday Jesus” service at 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with carol singing, a Christmas story, candle lighting and birthday cake. The traditional candlelighting worship service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with musical preludes of vocal, piano and handbell choir. The worship service begins at 8 p.m.

MERIDIAN U.P.

Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will have a candlelight service at 7:30 p.m.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will have four celebrations: a family and children’s service will be at 4 p.m. and candlelight worship celebrations at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The undesignated offering will be shared with Allegheny Valley Young Life — a partner mission with New Life that ministers to teens in our communities.

NORTH BUTLER PRESBY

North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 North Butler Church Road, will have an 8 p.m. candlelight Communion service.

OLD UNION PRESBY

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have a traditional service at 7:30 p.m. complete with candles, carols, and Communion.

RIDER LUTHERAN

Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will have a 6 p.m. service. Communion will be served.

SAINT ANDREWS u.p.

The candlelight service of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St., begins at 7 p.m. Special music begins at 6:30 p.m.

THE SOWER’S CHAPEL

The Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver, will have a Christmas Eve pageant of living pictures, or tableaux, at 5 p.m. This candlelight family service includes special voice and instrumental special music.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, will have a 5 p.m. worship service.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church on Main Street in Connoquenessing will have a 7 p.m. candlelight service with Holy Communion.

ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, will have candlelight worship at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. in the sanctuary; New Life candlelight worship at 5 p.m. in the activity center; and an 11 p.m. candlelight Communion service in the sanctuary.

There will also be Christmas Day worship at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary.

ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 310 West Main St., Saxonburg, will have a candlelight service at 6 p.m. with guitars and various instruments. At 8 p.m. the youth will perform with bells, instruments and piano. The 11 p.m. candlelight Communion service will feature choirs and pipe organ.

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will have the following services: 4:30 p.m. family Communion service with favorite Christmas hymns, children’s message, candle lighting and staffed nursery; 7:30 p.m. festival candlelight Communion service with Christmas prelude at 6:30 p.m. with special music by soloists, instrumentalists and the sanctuary choir; and 11 p.m. candlelight service in St. Mark’s Chapel with Communion.

SUMMIT PRESBY

Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will have a 7 p.m. candlelight service.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will have a 4 p.m. family candlelight service and 7 and 10 p.m. candlelight services.

WHITE OAK SPRINGS

White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, will have a 7:30 p.m. service of lessons and carols concluding with a traditional candlelighting ceremony.
