SRU falls at home
Senior guard Josh Martin scored 15 points, but the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team fell to No. 12-ranked East Stroudsburg University 76-64 at Morrow Field House Tuesday night.
The Rock (8-3) out-rebounded East Stroudsburg 53-30 and scored 48 points in the paint.
But the Warriors (9-0) were 24-of-34 from the line in the rematch of the PSAC semifinal game from last year that SRU won 68-59.
Kelvin Dixon and Antonio Butler each added 11 points for The Rock.
Freshman Rasheed Moore led East Stroudsburg with 24 points.
Women’s BasketballOvertime has not been kind to the SRU women’s basketball team.For the second time in as many games, The Rock (1-8) lost in double-overtime, this time 70-68 to East Stroudsburg at Morrow Field House.Slippery Rock had chances to win at the end of regulation and at the end of the first overtime. An off-balance shot missed the mark at the end of regulation and a free throw that would have won the game at the end of the first overtime rolled out.Three Rock starters fouled out in the second overtime.Aidan Geise led SRU with 17 points and also had 10 rebounds. Jazmyne Frost added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
