Foundation receives $50K donation challenge
SAXONBURG — The South Butler School District recently received a $50,000 donation challenge for the newly established Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation.
The challenge by an anonymous donor will match dollar-for-dollar every donation made to the foundation until the end of the year, up to $25,000.
“This challenge grant comes at a wonderful time,” said Dale Lumley, superintendent.
“With budgets tightening, this additional funding will allow us to continue to provide quality education by enhancing academic and extracurricular programs to meet the needs of our students.”
The foundation supports student academic and extracurricular programs through private funds.
Last year, an informal committee raised $100,000 for a new school marquee and scoreboard. That success was the impetus to launch a more formal district foundation.
The foundation seeks to get donations from businesses, alumni and residents.
