St. Kilian pastor named North Catholic president
CRANBERRY TWP — The pastor of a township church has been named the first president of the Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High school.
Bishop David Zubik on Wednesday appointed Father Charles S. Bober as president of the new high school, Butler County’s first Catholic high school that will open in the fall of 2014.
Bober is the pastor of the St. Kilian Parish, which is on Route 228 across the highway from the site of the new school.
As president, Bober will direct the administrative staff at the school, including principal Kellie Abbott.
Bober did not respond to a request for comment Thursday, and Abbott directed requests for comment to Father Ronald Lengwin, the spokesman for the diocese.
On Thursday Lengwin quoted a letter sent by Zubik to North Catholic faculty and alumni in which he praised Bober as “well equipped” to lead the school.
“The leadership of Father Bober will ensure that faith formation will be the hallmark of Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School along with an exciting and exceptional curriculum of academic education,” Zubik said in the letter.
Bober has been pastor at St. Kilian since 2001. He helped start the new Catholic elementary school there.
