Soundsof the Season

Stephen Barr leads the Slippery Rock University Choir, which will be part of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra's holiday show.
Symphony presents 2 holiday concerts

The Butler County Symphony for its annual holiday concert will feature Butler county native Elizabeth Matchett Freimuth, principal horn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Also part of the show will be the Slippery Rock University Choir under the direction of Stephen Barr.

Selections, among others, will include “Deck the Halls,” “Christmas Day,” “Carol of the Bells,” and “Noel” by the chorus only.

This year, the concert and singalong will be performed twice, once at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Butler Intermediate High School and again at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School.

The reason for the added concert is two-fold.

First, Freimuth is a Seneca Valley alumna and the symphony association wanted her hometown to have the chance to support her. Second, the holiday concert typically sells out, so adding another date gives residents more opportunity to attend.

Tickets are $23 for adults and $5.50 for students and available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St., by calling 724-283-1402, or at www.ShowClix.com.
