Woman jailed in false school threat case faces more charges

A Butler County woman already jailed on charges she falsely claimed that her son’s father was headed to the boy’s elementary school with a gun now faces new charges.

State police said Ashley R. Soose, 27, of Fairview Township was caught with suspected drugs and other contraband at the county prison.

Correctional officers found Soose with a Suboxone strip, a prescription pill and straw while searching her Nov. 6, the day she was arrested in the gun threat hoax at the Chicora Elementary School.

Her telephone call shortly after noon prompted the principal to place the school on lockdown, authorities said. Troopers responded and took her boyfriend into custody only to find he didn’t have a weapon. He was not charged.

Soose’s bogus call came after a domestic quarrel with her boyfriend, investigators said.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton later arraigned the woman on two counts of terroristic threats, a felony, and reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

Stoughton set bail at $50,000. After arraignment, she was taken to the prison and caught with the suspected drugs, police said.

In the new case, Soose is charged with possession of contraband by an inmate, a felony.
