10:08 p.m. Tuesday — Shawn M. Wirt, 36, of Butler was charged with theft and unauthorized possession of a controlled substance after he allegedly stole anxiety medications from a woman.Police responded to the Mercer Street home of Robin Hecker, 52, on a report that Wirt had stolen her purse with her medication from her bathroom.Hecker and Wirt were outside the home when police arrive.Wirt initially denied taking the purse, but admitted to it on his way to the station for questioning, according to the report.He was released and will be charged through mail.

Tuesday — Jonathan T. Ford, 24, of Butler was charged with the highest level DUI following an incident that occurred last month.Police found Ford sleeping in his car parked in the drive-through of the McDonald's in Center Township about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 26. His car was running and he had an open can of beer.He admitted he had been drinking that night and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Results of the test showed Ford had a .176 BAC, which is more than twice the .08 legal limit.

Sunday — A wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of Union Street sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.The wallet had several credit cards and about $80 in it when taken.
