Edgar Harper Negley
Edgar Harper Negley, 65, of Butler passed away Sunday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born Nov. 6, 1947, in Butler, the son of the late Alexander Negley and the late Genevieve (Nixon) Negley Rearick.
Edgar was a member of the American Legion Post 117, the VFW Post 249, the AMVETS 272 and the DAV 64.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.
Edgar and his brothers and sisters attended Scotland School in Chambersburg, Pa. He was a life member of the Butler Historical Society.
Edgar had worked in positions that helped the disabled.
Surviving are his five sisters, Mary Jane Negley, Alice Mae Sullivan, Mrs. Robert (Ruth Ann) Williams, Mrs. Edward (Stella Marlene) Morris, all of Texas, and Sara Ellen Negley of Guthrie, Okla.; his six brothers, John A. Negley and Richard Nixon Negley, both of York, Pa., Robert W. Negley of Sarver, William Rearick and Kenneth Rearick, both of Natrona Heights, Pa., and Jon Rearick of Tarentum, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his sister.
