Butler police are collecting gifts for children this holiday season.

The department and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 32 placed an angel tree in the lobby of the police station. On the tree are several “treasure for children” cards listing children’s gift requests for the holidays.

The tree is in cooperation with the Salvation Army, which collects the gift requests and distributes the gifts to the families.

Anyone may take one of the cards from the tree and drop off an unwrapped gift at the police station.

Lodge 32 also will donate some money raised by its annual calendar sales, which it sells with the city fire department, to the program.

For information or to participate, visit the city police station at 200 W. New Castle St.
