Offender allegedly fails to register

A private music instructor in Butler who pleaded guilty of molesting a teenage boy in 2006 is back in prison.

Donald J. Rasely, 63, was arrested Friday by state police after he allegedly failed to comply with the sex offender registration requirements of his sentence.

Rasely pleaded guilty to indecent assault, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors after being accused of molesting a boy during music lessons in his home in 2006.

Since December of last year, Rasely allegedly failed to register three places of employment, including the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Warren, Ohio, Sail Care in Ford City, and private music lesson in his home, according to police.

He also failed to register two e-mail addresses and an alias of D.J. Raisley, which had a misspelling of his last name, police said.

He used that alias at the church in Ohio, police said.

Rasely faces eight felony charges. He was arraigned by District Judge Timothy Schaffer on Friday and placed in Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail with a no contact with minors provision.
