Man, 8-year-old remain hospitalized after crash
A Butler County man and child remain hospitalized with injuries suffered last week in a two-vehicle wreck in Clarion County, authorities said.
Howard G. Hynick, 39, of Butler, one of the drivers, and one of his passengers, 8-year-old Dylon Bowser of Boyers, are listed in good and fair condition, respectively, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, a hospital spokesman said Monday afternoon.
State police said the head-on crash happened just after 5 p.m. Friday when a car driven by Tyler R. Jones, 20, of Saegertown, Crawford County, turned and crossed into the path of Hynick’s car on Route 368 in Perry Township.
Both drivers and both of Hynick’s passengers, the child and Sara J. Smith, 25, of Rimersburg, suffered serious injuries, according to a police report. Medical helicopters were called in to transport the injured.
Jones is listed in serious condition at Presby.
Smith’s condition was not immediately known. The UPMC spokesman said there was no record for Smith being treated at that hospital.
