CHERRY TWP — A bridge in the township has a new weight restriction.

The bridge carrying Boyers Road over McMurray Run has been limited to 34 tons, or 40 tons for combination loads, the state Department of Transportation announced this morning.

The restriction includes combination loads, primarily tractor trailers, which have higher weight limits because of the difference in how their weight is distributed.

The restriction is part of a statewide initiative by the state Department of Transportation to ensure bridge safety and preserve aging infrastructure.

ADAMS TWP — A home at 1216 Mars-Evans City Road caught on fire early this morning.The outside of the home reportedly caught fire about 2:50 a.m., according to 911 reports.The Callery Volunteer Fire Company was in command of the scene, while firefighters from the Evans City and Adams Area fire departments assisted.Units were cleared by 4:43 a.m.There were no injuries.

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — An accident along Route 68 injured one person about 6:15 a.m. todayOne person was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Butler Ambulance, according to 911 reports.The township fire company and state police responded to the scene.Traffic control was needed.The scene was cleared shortly after 7 a.m.No other information was available.
