Volunteer group that helps teens slates fundraiser

The group Connecting2Tomorrow seeks to help Butler County teens become responsible adults.

The group works with 60 to 75 teenagers a year, and it helps them gain the skills needed to get jobs and do better in school.

According to Michael Liebler, executive director of Connecting2Tomorrow, teens who go through the program have improved grades, improved school attendance and gain job interview skills.

“We teach the soft skills,” Liebler said, such as responsibly, a work ethic and a positive attitude to help them have ambitions.

“A lot of these skills use to be taught in school and they aren’t anymore,” Liebler said.

The program poses these questions to the teens: “What am I doing” and “Where am I going?” By the end of the program, they are supposed to be able to answer those questions.

He said the agency is “a 100 percent volunteer organization. All of our funding comes from donations and grants.”

To help with that funding, Connecting2Tomorrow will host a traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, 127 Franklin St.

Advance tickets for the dinner are $8, and are available by calling 724-431-6025, Ext. 803, or at www.autumndinner.eventbright.com. Tickets will cost $10 at the door. All children 11 and younger will be $5.

Connecting2Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization formed in 2011. It is based out of the Dunbar Community Center, but provides workshops at different locations throughout the county.

Teens are referred to the program through other agencies or through their schools. The program also advertises for anyone who would like to enroll a teen.
