Symphony presents Chaplin's 'City Lights'

“City Lights”

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will combine the sounds of the orchestra with film at its concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Regarded as one of the top films of all time, “City Lights” was written and directed by Charlie Chaplin. He also starred in the silent film. The romantic comedy will be presented on the big screen with the Butler County orchestra performing the sound track live.

The concert will be held at Butler Intermediate High School.

Music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. It will include snippets of the music to be performed.

Tickets are $23; students pay $5.50. Tickets are available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St., by calling 724-283-1402, or online at www.ShowClix.com. Any available tickets will be sold at the door.

Later in the season, the symphony will perform “Holiday Traditions” with Butler native Elizabeth Matchett Freimuth, principal horn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, along with the Slippery Rock University Choir, on Dec. 14.
