GROVE CITY — The search for a new Grove City College president is on.

The college’s presidential search committee met for the first time Oct. 17 and selected CarterBaldwin Executive Search of Atlanta to be its search firm.

“Selecting the right search partner is just the first step in the long journey of finding our next president,” said committee member and chairman of the college’s board of trustees David Rathburn.

The 11 person committee contains trustees, administrators and faculty.

In August, President Richard Jewell announced that he would retire at the end of the 2013-14 academic year. A 1967 graduate of the college, he was named president in 2003.

The committee also discussed the timeline of the search.

If applications begin arriving at the college in December, then a new president could be named at the beginning of summer.

Rathburn has said that he would like to see a new president named in time for the 2014-15 academic year.
