Butler Police4:30 p.m. Wednesday — Police arrested an Armstrong County couple wanted on warrants out of their home county. The suspects, Tyler, T. Storey, 28, and Katalina Y. Mitchell, 22, both of Ford City, were later returned to Armstrong County and are in jail there, according to a police report.A tip about the couple’s whereabouts sent city officers to a home in the 300 block of Pleasantview Avenue. Police knew that Storey was wanted on a felony arrest warrant but at the time they were unaware that Mitchell also was wanted.A short time after going to the home, police took the couple into custody.Police said Mitchell initially gave a bogus name but provided her actual birth date, which officers used to confirm her identify. That’s when they discovered that she, too, had a warrant out for her in Armstrong County.A search of Mitchell’s purse at the police station turned up a suspected marijuana pipe and an opened package of new syringes, the police report said.Police charged her with false identification to law enforcement authorities and possession of a controlled substance.Police notified the Armstrong County Probation Office, which later arrived here and took custody of the suspects.Wednesday — Police charged Ashley M. Spare, 27, of Butler with forging a neighbor’s check last month.The case began after Joyce Schaeffer told police that she had paid several bills with checks, and placed the payments in the outgoing mail at her apartment building in the 300 block of West Jefferson Street. She later learned, to her surprise, that her bills had not been paid.Schaeffer contacted the bank and discovered that one check she had written out to Armstrong Cable had been fraudulently issued to Spare, which was cashed for $335.70, according to court documents,Police said they later spoke to the defendant, who admitted stealing and cashing the check. She is charged with forgery.
Butler Twp. Police10:31 p.m. Wednesday — Darrell Erdos, 59, of Butler was cited for a burning ordinance violation after volunteer firefighters were called to his home on Barrickman Road for a possible structure fire. The blaze turned out to be a controlled burn, according to a police report, in violation of the township ordinance.Wednesday — Taylor Norris, 21, of Butler is accused of kicking in a door to an apartment and threatening his ex-girlfriend during an altercation Sept. 26 at Green Acres Apartments on Litman Road. He allegedly caused $600 in damage to the door.Police said Norris is charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and harassment.9:30 a.m. Wednesday — Three people were hurt when a car driven by Grace Burkett, 84, of Karns City collided with a sport utility vehicle at Route 8 and Fairfield Lane in Bon Aire.Burkett and the other driver, John Allison, 76, of Butler, and his passenger, Evelyn Allison, 66, of Butler, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries,The crash temporarily closed a portion of the road. South Butler volunteer firefighters assisted police at the scene.
