Rockets trample Warren, 55-7

WARREN — Slippery Rock rushed for 622 yards Friday night and remained unbeaten by dismantling Warren, 55-7, in high school football action.

The Rockets (6-0) had a 42-0 lead by halftime.

Ryan Lauster amassed 236 yards rushing and a touchdown on only six carries. Jared McDowell chipped in 153 yards on the ground, including scoring runs of 50 and 55 yards.

Travis Lauster rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Brandon McKnight scored on a 14-yard run. Mark Cessar booted three field goals for the Rockets.

Slippery Rock quarterback Jake Whitmer tossed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Chris Reeseman.

Union 20, Kennedy Catholic 0

The Golden Knights' defense held Kennedy Catholic to 50 yards of offense and forced six turnovers.

Lane Cicciarelli returned under center for Union (2-4) after missing last week with an ankle injury. He was 5-of-16 passing for 113 yards and a 35-yard touchdown to Shane Murphy that gave the Knights a 6-0 lead at halftime.

Brandon Greenawalt scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half and finished with 62 yards on 10 carries.

Dylan Shirey, who had one of the three Union interceptions, led the Golden Knights with 75 yards on 10 carries before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a leg injury.

Union also recovered three fumbles.

Grove City 82, Saegertown 14

The Eagles rushed for 358 yards on only 17 attempts and led 61-0 at the half.

Jared Graham was 5-of-6 passing for 196 yards and four touchdowns and also scored on an 82-yard run.

Foster Reznor scored twice for Grove City, which rushed for 358 yards and gained 554 yards of total offense.

The Eagles (4-2, 3-2) held the Panthers (0-6, 0-5) to 143 yards of offense during the Region 3 victory.

Brookville 43, A-C Valley 19

Hunter Defibaugh returned a blocked punt 40 yards for a touchdown to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead through one quarter, but the Raiders posted a big second half to pull away.

Andrew Strauser scored on a 6-yard run in the second quarter, as A-C Valley trailed 15-12 at the break.

Mike Suto paced the Falcons (0-6) with 104 rushing yards on 21 carries. He scored on a 1-yard plunge in the third quarter.

Summit Academy 46, Deer Lakes 8

Elijah Hardy broke loose for 195 and four touchdowns on the ground to pace the Knights to an Allegheny Conference victory.

Cross Country

Boys: Mars 20, Shaler 39; Mars 20, Butler 35; Buler 20, Shaler 40; Girls: Mars 20, Shaler 43; Mars 21, Butler 38; Butler 20, Shaler 43 —Both Planet teams are 4-5 on the year after this Wednesday meet. Mars and North Hills run at Knoch on Tuesday.
