Butler Police3:34 p.m. Sept 21. — Donald Kastelic, 78, of Butler reported someone stole a pair of sunglasses and a silver chain necklace from his parked car while he was at Friedman’s Freshmarkets.Kastelic told police when he returned from shopping he found the items in his center console had been tossed around the car.He noticed the sunglasses, valued at $50, and a silver chain, valued at $100, were missing.9:20 a.m. Sept. 20 — Jessica Wilson, age unknown, of Butler, reported a hit and run on her car the previous night.Wilson said her car was parked on East Brady Street for the night. When she went to it in the morning, she found damage to the front bumper and hood.There are no suspects.
Butler Twp. Police12:23 a.m. Sept. 13 — Megan Maksin, 21, of Butler was charged with DUI after police saw her driving through the grass area of the parking lot of Old Plank Estates.Maksin narrowly missed hitting multiple parked vehicles when she drove between them and a chain-link fence.Maksin is facing additional charges because a 16-year-old also was in the car.
State Police, Butler5:28 p.m. Friday — An accident occurred in a construction zone along Interstate 79.Keith A. Critchlow, 42, of New Castle failed to stop for slowing traffic and rear ended a car driven by Steven D. Heinlein, 54, of Girard.Critchlow had moderate injuries and was taken to Jamison Hospital in New Castle.He was not wearing a seat belt.Heinlein, who was wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries but did not require EMS transport.Critchlow was cited for several vehicle violations, including driving at an unsafe speed.5:12 p.m. Friday — A motorcyclist was injured in an accident on Chicora Road in front of the O’Donnell’s Beer Distributor in Oakland Township.The motorcyclist was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.No other information was available Saturday morning.8:11 p.m. Thursday — Karen A. McDonald, 44, of Slippery Rock suffered moderate injuries after losing control of her vehicle while attempting to avoid an animal on Stoughton Road in Slippery Rock Township.McDonald’s car struck a tree on the side of the road.She was taken to the Grove City Medical Center for treatment.McDonald, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for a traffic lane violation.4:13 p.m. Thursday — A 17-year-old girl drove over a mailbox on Oneida Valley Road in Center Township.The teen drove away without stopping but was witnessed by the owner of the mailbox.She admitted to police that she was distracted by her cell phone before veering off the road. She said she drove away because she was scared.The teen was cited for damage to unattended property and careless driving.6:20 a.m. Thursday — An accident occurred at the intersection of Kiester Road and Route 8 in Slippery Rock Township.Iian T. Elliot, 44, of Franklin stopped at the stop sign on Kiester Road at the intersection, but the front of his car was too far onto Route 8.A car driven by Wayne E. Murdock Jr., 54, of Cochranton, struck the front bumper of Elliot’s car.Elliot had a minor head injury following the accident.
