Stanley

John L. Stanley, 75, of Franklin Township passed away Thursday at his residence.

He was born May 21, 1938, in Struthers, Ohio, the son of the late Grady and Ethel (Mann) Stanley.

John was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was a retired owner and operator of Butler Family Sales. John was a U.S. Army veteran and also belonged to the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 117. He loved watching football and taking trips to the casinos.

Surviving are his wife of more than 50 years, Martha (Mathieson) Stanley of Butler, who he married Oct. 27, 1962; one son, Jerry Stanley of Jacksonville, Fla.; one grandchild; one half-sister, Bonnie Arnold of Texas; and two half-brothers, Andy Luther of Tennessee and Gordon Shaffer of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John B. Stanley, who passed away Nov. 11, 2009.

STANLEY — Friends of John L. Stanley, who died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the blessing service at 5 p.m. Burial will be private.
