John Randall 'Randy' Vavro
John Randall “Randy” Vavro, 47, of Butler was called home Monday to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who he has served his entire life.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1965, in Butler to Patty (Nichter) Jelkovac and the late John Vavro Jr.
Randy was a 1983 graduate of Butler High School and went on to earn his associate degree in business administration at Butler County Community College.
He worked as a sales and service manager at Tires For Less in Butler and Grove City.
Randy enjoyed cars and car shows, especially Mustangs, and enjoyed driving his own Mustang to car cruises. He enjoyed watching BlueSox baseball games with his son, creating car collages as gifts for others and spending time with his family. Randy enjoyed cooking and grilling, and often took food to friends who were ill. He was a caring and thoughtful man who did special things to help others. Randy was an ordained deacon.
Randy is survived by his wife, Lori Lynne (Smith) Vavro, who he married Sept. 26, 1992; one son, Mathieu Vavro; his mother, Patty Jelkovac; one sister, Kelly Hasychak and her husband, Mike; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John E. and Sandra Smith; one brother-in-law, John E. Smith Jr. and his wife, Lisa; two nieces, Madalyn Smith and Jennifer Smith and her daughter, Ashlynn; one nephew, Mark Smith; his stepmother, Patricia “Pat” Vavro; and his close and special friend and pastor, the Rev. Robert Peterson.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, John Vavro, who passed away Sept. 9, 2010.
VAVRO — Friends of John Randall “Randy” Vavro, who passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, will be received from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Mary Kitchen of the East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
