Sept. 5 — A Beaver County man was arrested on a felony charge that he sold stolen jewelry and coins at a Route 19 gold store. The stolen items previously had been taken in a burglary in Allegheny County.Kevin R. Reeg, 26, of Baden was arraigned on a charge of receiving stolen property, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.According to court documents, Reeg on Sept. 3 sold a 10-carat gold bracelet, 10-carat gold ring and 219 silver dollars at the Gold Buyers of Pittsburgh store in Cranberry Township for $586.Those same items, valued at about $2,500, had been reported stolen Sept. 2, the same day they were taken in a suspected burglary of a home on Westmore Drive in Marshall Township.
Wednesday — Police arrested an Ohio woman on charges she illegally tried to buy a gun nearly two years ago from a store in Donegal Township.Lisa P. Lang, 40, of Berlin Center allegedly lied on her application to buy the firearm at the Butler Gun Emporium on Route 68.In completing the purchase form, police said, Lang denied that she had ever been committed to a mental institution.But the Pennsylvania Instant Check system denied the purchase. The background check, according to court documents, showed that Lang had prior commitments in Somerset County dating back to 1996.The defendant was arraigned on charges of making a false written statement in attempting to buy a gun, a third-degree felony.Additionally, she is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor. Lang is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.State Police, Franklin10:52 p.m. Thursday — Linda Lee Diefenderfer, 51, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 in Barkeyville.
