Preston leads BC3 golfers

Karns City graduate Tucker Preston carded a 77 to lead the Butler County Community College golf team to a win over three other teams Tuesday at Pittsburgh National Golf Club.

The Pioneers shot 347 as a team, besting Westmoreland County Community College, CCAC-South and CCAC-North.

Also scoring for BC3 were Jayce Corklin (82), Jordan Johnson (91), Nick Brosius (97) and C.J. Payne (98).

Women’s SoccerEighth-ranked Slippery Rock University received a goal from freshman Andrea Felix in a 1-1 draw at PSAC-rival Clarion.The Rock now stands at 1-0-1 overall and in conference play.

Women’s VolleyballButler County Community College improved to 7-3 on the season with 3-0 wins over Westmoreland County Community College and Penn State-Beaver Monday night.Mackenzie Huey had 25 assists, Mariah Clark 10 kills, Jen Barry seven kills, Heather Straynick eight kills and 14 digs, Alexis Linamen 11 digs in the Pioneers’ 25-20, 25-17, 25-13 win over Westmoreland.Huey had 25 assists, Clark eight kills, Straynick nine kills and Leah McGuire four aces in the team’s 25-12, 25-18, 25-16 win over PSU-Beaver.The Pioneers play at Point Park (JV) at 7 p.m. today.
