Renfrew woman dies in crash in Indiana County
WHITE TWP, Indiana County — An elderly Renfrew woman died in a collision Thursday.
According to state police in the Indiana County barracks, 80-year-old Martha Sybert drove her 2003 Dodge Neon across the yellow line and into oncoming traffic on the eastbound lane of State Route 286 at Abbey Road about 4:15 p.m.
Sybert’s car collided with a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by John P. Stark, 48, of Latrobe.
Sybert died at the scene at 4:50 p.m. According to the Indiana County Coroner’s office, she died of multiple injuries to her head and chest.
Sybert’s passenger, her son 55-year-old Matthew “Bill” Sybert of Butler, and Stark were taken by ambulance to the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Sybert was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
