Knoll gets OK at Dassa McKinney

She is the new asst. principal

CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School Board Monday night approved Brenda Knoll as the new assistant principal for Dassa McKinney Elementary School.

Knoll has worked in the district for 17 years, most recently as the junior-senior high school assistant principal.

“Mrs. Knoll is a good administrator, educator and leader,” said Superintendent George Svolos. “Those skills will carry through at any level.”

Knoll will work with Dolores Bliss, principal of Dassa McKinney. Knoll assumes the role following David Kiebler’s acceptance of a job as principal of the South Butler Primary School.

Moniteau now seeks a new junior-senior high school assistant principal to work with Maynard Harvey, principal.

The district also is looking for a new director of buildings and grounds following the departure of Jeff Campbell, who now is the custodial/maintenance supervisor for the Fox Chapel School District.

The board appointed Cecil Blauser as head football coach, a position previously held by Campbell. Blauser was an assistant football coach for 14 years and worked with three previous head coaches.

To accommodate more kindergarten students this year, and in response to parents’ concerns about overcrowding, the board approved a half-time elementary teacher position for an additional kindergarten class.

Other postings for teacher openings anticipated in the district include those for a half-time family and consumer sciences teacher, a speech teacher and two special education teachers.

“We want to find highly qualified individuals who have the same vision and goals as our district and who are student-centered individuals,” said Svolos.

Students returned to district schools on Monday.
