Sarah Frances Schaffer
Sarah Frances Schaffer, 93, of Evans City, formerly of Ben Avon, died Wednesday evening at Elmcroft of Saxonburg.
Born in Bellevue on Dec. 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Henry Warner and Margaret Graham.
She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the American Legion. She also was a member of the VFW and the Valley Vets.
She loved sports, especially the Pirates and the Steelers.
Surviving are her daughter, Arlene Schaffer Nichols and her husband, Ron, of Evans City; six grandchildren, Kelly Nichols Bauman of Cranberry Township, Chad Nichols of Mars, Phil Engelmore of Bellevue, Brian Engelmore of Sharon, Jeffrey Engelmore of Emsworth and Brad Engelmore of Pittsburgh; eight great-grandchildren, Cathy Bauman, Alec Engelmore, Tyler Engelmore, Natalie Engelmore, Ethan Engelmore, Nikolas Engelmore, Haley Engelmore and Kamryn Engelmore, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Schaffer; great-granddaughter, Brianna Bauman, and daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Engelmore.
SCHAFFER — Friends of Sarah Frances Schaffer, who died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
