Jack Mills
Jack Mills
In loving memory of Jack Mills.
The chair on the porch is empty.
The rocking chair rocks no more;
There is no one to say “How are you?” when I come in the door.
You said “I’ll see you tomorrow”, but that was not to be.
The Lord knew you were tired and took you away from me.
Many times I feel you near me.
Sometimes I see you in your chair.
Sadly, then I realize that you’re not there.
Often I lie awake at night when everyone’s asleep,
I take a stroll down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks.
Remembering you is easy, I do it every day,
But missing you is heartache that never goes away.
So on your birthday, all my love to you I send.
Not only were you my husband, you were also my best friend.
