William A. Sanders

Senior Master Sgt. William A. (Bill) Sanders, U.S. Air Force, Ret., was born May 4, 1930, in Butler and died June 21 in Folsom, Calif.

Bill is the son of William C. and Elizabeth (Stepp) Sanders. He graduated from Butler High School, Class of 1948.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in December 1950. He served in the Air Force for 24 years doing maintenance of navigator and electronic warfare simulators.

After retiring, he attended American River College and received his AA in computer technology, working for the next 17 years on the updated simulators for the Air Force.

He began volunteering at Natomas Station Elementary School when his granddaughter, Amy, was in second grade, and kept volunteering for 15 years, retiring a few years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Chester of Oil City, Jerry of Dayton, Ohio, and Lewis of Canton, N.C.; and one sister, Betty Summerville of Orlando, Fla.

Bill was a member of the Malta Lodge 131 of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Denton); his daughters, Linda (husband Donnie), Terri (husband Darryl) and Karen (husband Kent); and his granddaughters, Amy (husband James), Katie and Kirsten.

SANDERS — William A. “Bill” Sanders, who died Friday, June 21, 2013, will be interred in the Sacramento Valley Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.
