Sliders bow on road, 5-1
RICHMOND, Ind. — Michael Chiaro held the Slippery Rock Sliders to one run in a complete-game performance and led the Richmond RiverRats to a 5-1 victory at McBride Stadium.
Slippery Rock grabbed a 1-0 advantage after the first inning, but the RiverRats tied it in the third and took control with a two-run fourth frame.
Cooper Mickelson tallied two of the Sliders’ six hits, while Chiaro struck out five and walked three.
David Wilson endured the loss on the mound for Slippery Rock after allowing four runs over five innings. He fanned six and walked four.
The Sliders will try to salvage a split in the series at Richmond Friday.
