Pennsylvania American Water is alerting its customers to be aware of impostors posing as company or municipal employees to gain entry to their homes.

On Saturday, a person claiming to represent the company robbed a 90-year-old Kittanning customer and his wife at their home under the guise of checking her water pressure. The customer reported the incident to police.

A similar incident occurred on July 26 in Greensburg with impostors robbing an 84-year-old woman in her home while posing as water company employees.

The company said all service personnel wear uniforms, drive company-branded vehicles and wear photo identification badges with the company’s logo. Customers are urged to examine the photo identification tag whenever an employee arrives at their home or business.
